In January 2016, as part of the Power Institute’s research project Ambitious Alignments: New Histories of Southeast Asian Art, a two-day public symposium was hosted at the National Gallery Singapore with fifteen scholars presenting on their original research papers. Ambitious Alignments is a research program funded through the Getty Foundation’s Connecting Art Histories initiative, developed by Power in cooperation with the National Gallery Singapore and the Institute of Technology, Bandung.
