This September the MCA will be hosting a conference The Forever Now: Contemporary Art Collections in the 21st Century, which will include our own departmental colleague Stephen Gilchrist as a guest speaker.
Using past and present collectors of Chinese art based in America, Europe and China, Goddard’s talk will explore the cultural, political and economic forces that shaped collecting taste in the 19th, and 20th century, and will address the challenges that new and seasoned members of the Chinese art community face as they participate in 21st century global marketplace.
Co-curated by Whiteman and two PhD students, Bingqing Wei and Minerva Inwald, Floating Time: Chinese Prints, 1954–2002 presents, for the first time, a selection of modern and contemporary Chinese prints from the University of Sydney Art Collection.
